Dr. Jagdish Patel has called Tracy home since 1978 and has spent more than four decades caring for individuals and families in the community. For him, Family Medicine has always been about more than treating an illness—it is about knowing his patients, understanding their families, and building relationships that often last for generations.
Born in Mombasa, Kenya, Dr. Patel received his early education there before moving with his family to India to pursue higher education. He graduated from the Medical College at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India in 1972. He later came to the United States, completing an internship at New York Medical College and a Family Practice residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
After enduring a few very cold Wisconsin winters, Dr. Patel decided California was the place for him. He moved to Tracy in 1978, joined Eaton Medical Group, and became a member of the medical staff at Tracy Community Hospital. Board-certified in Family Practice, he has devoted most of his career to caring for the everyday health needs of his patients—from preventive care and acute illnesses to the long-term management of chronic medical conditions.
Dr. Patel later completed additional residency training in Occupational Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Although this added another dimension to his medical experience, Family Medicine has always remained the heart of his practice. One of his greatest joys has been caring for several generations of the same families—watching children grow up and eventually return with children of their own.
More than four decades later, Dr. Patel still lives and practices in Tracy, where he and his family put down their roots and raised two children. His philosophy of medicine remains simple: listen to your patients, get to know them as people, and care for them as you would want your own family to be cared for.
